For the record

openDemocracy has published an article by Richard Burge in which he argues that certificates of carbon storage in vegetation and soils in projects from developing should be included from the EU Emission Trading Scheme.

In my view the piece is, at best, not especially helpful (by contrast, see Up in Smoke which may be useful even if and where it's wrong). Having just edited a debate on the politics of climate change, I would not have published it.
